Due to the popularity of this event we now hold try outs for the IMCA team annually around April time which will be available to enter through Show Time Show Processing.
In 2026, they are being held on the weekend of 11th & 12th April at the Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex, Willoughby, CV23 8AJ. There will be 3 classes of 2 x agility and 1 jumping on the Saturday and 1 x agility & 1 x Jumping on the Sunday.
Our 2026 judge is ANJA DIELS from Belgium. We are pleased that Anja will also be one of our championship competition judges in August.
Unfortunately, as I am writing this, I must advise that the capping level for this year (2026) was reached in under 2 days of the opening of entries. Therefore, there is a reserve list of which we have already been able to move a couple of competitors off the reserve list to offer a placement at the tryouts due to people cancelling their entry. So please, if you would like to come to the tryouts make sure you make your entry on the Show Time website and ensure you click add to reserve list.
For information on our selection process the following information is detailed in the schedule:
The team selection will NOT solely be based on the day’s achievements but may include other factors such as:
- Handler’s experience (International, championship classes or grade of classes handled in).
- Dog’s experience (International, championship classes or grade of classes competed in).
- Speed of dog / handler combination over courses (ie meters per second).
- Achievements from any previous championships with same dog/handler combinations
- Touch point accuracy.
- Dogs & jump heights will be the same as the UK Kennel Club Regulations again this year.
- Dogs have to have been officially measured and hold a recorded height in their measurement book.
- There will be NO “on spot win” team places allocated as potential team members may also be viewed at several shows or online runs before final decisions and invitations are made.
- If there are two or more people who are felt to be of equal standing in the selection process the choice will be given to the person that performed the better in the 2025 try outs or has supported, attended and achieved in previous year’s championship competitions.
